    Are you kidding!?

    I love E E Burritos!

The people are so nice that they make me want to come back again and again! It’s a small operation with a lot of heart!

It makes me absolutely angry that you’d single them out like this! The food is great, and the cost is low, and they have a great selection of other items too! There is so much of their culture in there!

I see absolutely no justification for telling people to avoid that great place, and those great people, and that great food!

Ugh … it’s extremely low to pick on them. Extremely low. I’ve went there many times with my brothers, and we’ve always had a blast. All of my memories of eating there are wonderful memories. If you’re going to pick on any restaurant, not them. I thought you were intelligent people, I thought you were cool people, but blatantly insulting such a great establishment, and such great people, and such great food … singling them out with a “avoid at all costs” label … that’s lower than low. That’s bullying. I thought you were better than this.

EE Burrito, how can I easily sum you up? I would say it was a roller coaster of emotions. At first I was excited, I was so excited. I love South American food, and when I moved to Saskatoon. There wasn’t bump kiss for anything that could be considered south of the border. Then last year when I returned I spotted a place called EE Burrito’s oh I was so excited. I was like a kid on Christmas morning. Then I went there, and that’s when I was severely disappointed. The food was quite passable, and was quite over priced from what I’m used to. They had a little grocery section with food marked up a considerable amount from what I’m accustomed to from buying groceries in a Mexican grocery store. They have Jarrito soda, which was marked up. But it was worth the extra gouging, because the soda is that good. The food was tasteless and bland, no spice or flavor. Just bland meat in a tortilla. If you want authentic south of the border food I would suggest going to a city with large amounts of South Americans, or South America. But if you desperately want South American food, and you don’t have any other options. There is always EE Burrito, there is also the option of learning to cook for yourself too.

  3. Mage says:

I have experienced a lot of Mexican food coming straight out of Logan Square in Chicago over the last year. I went to street festivals and fancied dozens of restaurants from higher class – to cheap bar food and street vendors. There are certain things you look for in traditional foods.

My first selection from the menu was a skirt steak. This is a cheaper cut of meat, which isn’t so cheap anymore due to it’s popularity is fajitas and other dishes. Marinating is required to break up the tough tendons in the meat and make this once near non-edible steak into something tender and delicious. My skirt steak wasn’t even chewable. It didn’t have much flavor and I could taste the underlying smell of the meat, which isn’t acceptable even if the meat would have been prepared properly. I ended up eating something else entirely and it sat in the fridge until it went bad.

I would have to say that nearly everything is overpriced. The take out containers are not suited to the type of food being sold. Styrofoam + tortilla wrappers + humidity from meat turn food to mush in no time. This means if I wouldn’t have known to open the containers so the food didn’t get soggy on the way home the experience would have been even worse. This food is lower in quality and over five times more expensive than at any other “traditional” Latin restaurant I’ve ever been to. I can understand the need to turn a profit but they should put a little bit more pride into what they are doing if they are going to sport a gourmet price tag. I appreciate the imported section even if it is a bit over priced. There are some good finds available such as Jarritos.

I was a little apprehensive to be listing this in the worst restaurant category, as I feared people in Saskatoon would not have the experience for comparison. There are not very many people from El Salvador living in Saskatoon so there isn’t much to weigh EE Burritos against. I feel like the owners probably know better and are taking advantage of the bare minimum they can get away with in running their restaurant in Saskatoon. I really don’t blame them. They do have an awesome atmosphere which can really make the restaurant for many people.

I know EE Burritos from many aspects, since I work there for a while. In fact, the atmosphere is good because there is some nice people working there.

Unfortunately, the owners cheap out in everything. They hire illegal workers to pay lowever than minimum wages and avoid overtime rates. They also buy cheap products (when they find it half-priced) and use the lower quality of produce for their salsas (customers can not see).

Anyway, that is their business and they run it the way they want. Also customer have the option to choose to go or stop going. What drives me mad is that the owner lies to customers and the community by pretending to care about food quality and social problems.

E.E. Burritos is tasty, especially the Beef Burrito or the Marinated Pork Tacos. The Staff has always been friendly and the service is quick unless it is very busy. Top Ratings from this guy.

Had the food ordered and I agree about the delivery packages they come in. Should be something different. It’s ok food but not real authentic. I had some authentic food in BC and it blew EE out of the window. I haven’t eaten their since and find that it is a knock off to real latin american food, and I think because they are just trying to make a buck or two.

EE Burritos is good, not GREAT. I LOVE latin food, but this food is not authentic. I still go to EE burritos when im craving some latin food, its close to where i live. It IS more authentic than taco time or taco bell.

BUT if you want closer to the real thing, try out La Bamba on the east side. Its a smaller restaurant, awesome service, and unlimited beans and rice and they give nachos and salsa while you wait. I warn you its a tiny place so you have to make reservations or get there around 4 or 430 if you dont want to make reservations. WORTH the drive to boychuk drive. :D

I agree with everyone that is not happy with EE burritos, I’ve heard about stories and also food poisoning. If you want to buy real Salvadorian food, contact me here and I can give you the phone number of a lady I know that makes the best Salvadorian food, I’ve been trying to make her open up a restaurant, but she is afraid she won’t have clients. If you want to have a party and have latin food she is the right person.
