I met a client here and couldn’t believe the friendly environment
and the steak deal that was on that evening! Can’t recall the price but there
was one free beer, steak and fries involved and it sure looked great!
I figure if we ride our bikes to the restaurant we could indulge almost guilt free!

This place has the absolute worst service.. The owner is always Drunk and acts unappropriately to his waitresses. Darwin .. the owner cares more about his bottom line then customer service. If you want to be treated like crap from the owner then go here. Otherwise save yourself the dissapointment and go elsewhere…
My friends and i were customers of this place for two years,lately the manager/owner darwin has has been gettin a little ruder to our table a few weeks ago the waitress made a mistake on our bills we conplained after she admited she made a mistake we still paid for it 3 week later we showed up as normal he came to our table told us he did not care about our business told us we were bugging his waitreses we were not and told us to get the f##k out our friends never to come back. So thats the service you can look forward to.
We were at the restaurant last night when we overheard the owner yelling.. yes yelling at a group of 8 people.. He asked them to leave… somthing about the waitress making a mistake about an order of wings.. WOW.. the way he treated this group of customers was unaccaptable.. We never said anything to the owner… but we will never go there again… Hope other people read this and stay away from this estabilishment…
Digusting.. I guess the manager needs a few lessons in customer service… Oh well .. With that management style its almost a gaurantee that his business will fail.. Ill be sure to go elsewhere…
To unhappy, you have been banned from our establishment because you are rude to the servers and you constantly complain about the food and the service every time you come in ……if it’s soooooo terrible why have you been coming back almost every week for the past two years?????
To Susan, please remember there are two sides to every story…..you really should come and check “Somewhere Else” out. You will be treated well and the food is really great!!

5 of us plan to have dinner at Somewhere Else tonight, this will be my first time there. I’m somewhat skeptical based on what I’ve read for reviews. Firstly, I find it highly inappropriate, not t mention unprofessional and down right tacky, that the owners felt the need to ban guests from their establishment right here on the review page. Sadly, this is my first impression of Somewhere Else. I will keep an open mind and judge the restaurant for myself after tonight. Just a note to the owners, this doesn’t bode well for you, as a first impression.
Excellent blues band on Saturday night (2010-09-18). Haven’t
tried the food yet, but if there are more bands like this, I’ll be
there. Is there a website? I left without noting the band’s name
and would like to find out.

Just this evening my class at Walter Murray had a steak night. The event of our own went well but the service was absolute horrid and rude! The food was undercooked for the steaks, blood was leaking out of them and thats no word of a lie. The roasted potatoes were literally potatoe chips, it was disgusting, and the salads tasted like they were made the night before and got all soggy. For the service part of it, my boyfriend couldnt stay for the whole event cause he had a concert to go to so I asked the waitress politely if I could pack up my boyfriends meal to go, she said that wouldnt be a big deal, only when everyone got their food and there are left overs. Then one of my classmates asked me if I could ask for her about her grandfather as well for he couldnt make it and of course, I would so I did and then I had 3 waitresses come up to me and got up all in my face about it saying that they dont do take outs and they only did that for me just because I was hosting (M C’ing) the night. I thought that was outragiously rude for them to make such a rude remark. Just because I am hosting doesnt mean that I was the one that paid for everything. Everybody did their equal share. All I can say is that I am definitely NOT.. I am NOT going back there. Their food is disgusting and their service is absolutely rude by all means. They need to learn their human relations skills, and I think I just may call the food inspector because they could have food poisoned us by how poorly the meal was made. They are not getting our service again. I am not the only one upset, the whole crue was. Obviously shown as literally everyone left after the prizes of the 50/50 and raffling was done.
My wife and I LOVE the food and think the entertainment is really great. The servers are very friendly and it’s nice to see that the owners are there to make sure everyone is having a good time.
As a regular customer of Somewhere Else Pub and Grill and a cook that has been in the industry for the last 20 years, I must reply to Jess!
I find it so shocking that after having a charity fundraiser at Somewhere Else she has found it necessary to be so horrible to the owners and staff there. I hope that people know when they attend a steak night, the business does not make ANY profit from the steak night and do it only for community and charity purposes. Jess says the food was disgusting….I find her behavior disgusting. I attended a steak night there for the Prince Philip Playground and the food was wonderful and almost ten thousand dollars was raised! Thank you Somewhere Else and do not stop your good will due to people like Jess!
PS I have not mentioned where I work only because I do not want a customer like Jess! To ask for a doggy bag at a buffet?! Grow up and get some class!
PPS I would phone my lawyer about the health inspector comment. I have had the food there more than 100 times and it’s always great!
A reply to Jess as well… I have been going to Somewhere Else for years and have never been disappointed by the food. Blood leaking from your steak? Welcome to a good steak.

And to insult the service!! The service I’ve seen there has always been friendly and courteous. Literally, they go out of your way to help you out as much as possible. The owners are also really nice and caring.
Get a clue, before you do a review.
I’ve been to somewhere else bar and grill several times and Darwin always comes to are table to ask how it’s going. The atmosphere is awesome and the food is AMAZING!! Love the sweet potato fries and the wings! SOOO good! These reviews are rediculous, it’s fantastic and the entertainment is also awesome!
I am a vegetarian and sometimes it is hard to find something to eat when we go out. We went to Somewhere Else pub about 6 months ago and I tried the Veggie Burger. I have never in my life had a veggie burger anywhere else that tasted SO amazing! I have come back many times, and every time it is just as amazing. My boyfriend is a meat eater, and he raves about everything he has tried on the menu as well. We always feel that we are treated well, and the atmosphere is great. We will continue to enjoy coming to Somewhere Else!!! Thanks for the great food and service.
I have been going to SomeWhere Else Pub for the past 8mos. after a friend bragged about how good the music & food was. I was very impressed, the bands are awesome and the steak on Fri. nite (what an great deal)!!
The owner has come over to our table on various occassions just to chat and see how we are enjoying the place. We have never had rude waitresses, if really busy one has to expect the service to be a little slower. Not a big deal, like where are we going at 10:00 at nite, went there to enjoy and that’s just what we do.
Maybe just chill out, enjoy the company you are with. The atmosphere is an inviting one.
I’m sorry to say that we will not be going back, they now charge your tip automatically for a group of 6 or more, when i called the pub they said the server should of told us, but either way, our Friday night after work group (sometimes 12 or more) will not be going back. We always tipped well, as the food and service were right up there. The new automatic 15% tip for groups will not have us going back.
We have been going there since the old steak sandwich and beer deal was $8, and continued to go faithfully…unfortunately I’m a sad ex patron now.
Seven of us went to Somewhere Else for a co-workers farewell. The place was very busy and there was only one waitress working. We arrived in two groups and when I arrived the first group was already seated with their menus. We joined them but did not receive our menus so we had to share. The waitress took our orders for drinks and brought them to the table. Then she took our order, asking if we wanted poutine or some kind of thin fries, etc. and then we waited… and waited… and waited.. and.. well, you get the picture! Finally our food arrived! The food was okay, although the cheese in the poutine wasn’t even close to melted.. just cheese chunks. We were never offered a dessert course and because it was so busy our water wasn’t refilled during the meal. When it was time to leave we went to the bar to pay. I paid and thought it was on the high side.. $19+ for the crispy chicken. I didn’t receive a bill or a receipt from my interact. I did tip her $2.00 because I felt sorry for her being so busy. Our entire group was surprised at the cost of the lunch.. and then we realized.. poutine was extra (we weren’t told this) the guacomole was extra (we weren’t told this), etc.. and the topper – because there were 7 of us – we were charged a 15% gratuity – WE WERE NOT TOLD THIS EITHER! So on top of the individual tips, the waitress received an extra 15%. For some in the group – that added up to a 35% tip! I bet she made over $30 in tips! Unfortunately a phone call to the establishment couldn’t rectify the situation. We will not return to this restaurant and neither will any of our friends.. or I imagine their friends. And that adds up to a lot of lost business!
I am bringing the foremen from our project to the pub tonight! Is there Karaoke tonight?
Well after seeing that their are more bad reviews than good ones, I am unsure if I want to enter this establishment. First of all it sounds like the servers can carry a tray but not actually serve people. You always tell people that poutine, gravy, guacamole, etc is extra. Also, you always inform of a gratuity. Next off the customer is always right, if your server makes a mistake then the customer should not be yelled at and embarrassed in public by the manager. I also was not impressed that the owner would talk about banning someone of a public website. I am just wondering where you went to business school? Oh wait, I am sure you didn’t…
To our customers, (past, present and future),
You have spoken and we have listened. We have removed the 15% auto-gratuity for tables with six or more people.
We had applied this in early December because of our servers concerns over some larger groups who sometimes assume that someone else at their table will leave a tip. Because our servers tip out the kitchen staff and the bartender based on a percentage of their sales (not tips), they sometimes have to use money out of their own pocket to cover their tip-out.
Our servers work hard and always do their best to ensure that your time at “Somewhere Else” will be a pleasant experience. We thank you for your patronage and our servers thank you for thinking of them.
Ha ha ha! I get it the owner WANTS you to go somewhere else…. OK….. too funny!
If you treat people poorly in front of others you have to see all this coming…. Yeah my prediction is this place won’t last. Customer service is key!

Has no one noticed that it seems like the same person keeps tying in all these horrible reviews? They all are grammatically similar with their “..” although with different names and make multiple claims that the “Business will fail”. People, I am about to go to the Somewhere Else Bar and Grill tonight and I am actually appalled at how gullible people can be. I am very excited to see how “bad” the service is. It is very impressive to me hearing of a bar owner that stands up for his waitresses rather than worrying about profits. I am also comforted to know that the owners of this establishment are not afraid to ban certain ruffian’s from entering. As far as I’m concerned this business seems to have great integrity as well as care for the common worker, this is a very uncommon trait in todays capitalist society. I for one applaud the manager for supporting a harassment free environment for his workers and thus complying with Saskatchewan Labour Laws. If the food is good tonight i for some reason think i will be a long time customer.
One other thing to add as well. I would feel ashamed leaving a table of more than 6 people when the tip was less than 15%. Come now people, that is exceedingly cheap. As well, if you know that there is a 15% gratuity charge, simply put do not go to that establishment with a group of 6 or more. Darwin and Nissa, I am very excited to come join you at Somewhere Else this evening.
It would be the guy that shows up regularly for the $8 steak and beer that complains about having to tip 15%.
I’ve been to this establishment numerous times, more often for drinks than for food. The service has always been friendly and efficient.
My family attends this restaurant once or twice a month. The food is always fantastic (my favorite place for wings or chicken fingers or wraps in the city). The waitresses and manager/owner have always been kind and welcoming to us. We have only had great experiences there!
wow what a horrible experience…..great staff, but bad food, and even worse, bad management. Will never waste my $ there again….. Steaks were a joke and when I asked for another before touching it they refused to make it right (well done apparently is burnt leather like here… ….I eat out 3 times a week and live nearby, to bad this place is so bad…..
After going through and reading numberous comments, I cannot fathom the stupidity of people in this city.
Unfortunatley alot of the people who write reviews are the same kind of people who take the time to complain about ridiculous things while eating outside of their home. It is people like you, who make a servers job hard. You have no understanding of how the business works, who is responsible for what, or how the tipping process works. For everyone who complained about a an automatic tip process with 6 people or more, will find it hard to find a restaurant very soon that does not put this into practice. With six or more people ordering food , results in a very large tab, if noone decides to tip, that server ends up paying the tipout out of her own pocket. How is that fair?
As for steak nights…. seriously.. you are getting steak, fries and a salad for a deal price, It boggles my mind to think that you people expect the kitchen to cook 40 or more steaks to every persons preference there. Everyone knows at steaknights you arent going to receive a t-bone like you would receive at a steakhouse, you are there to support ..remember..?? Your a good person… Remember??
I have attended this establishment often, and will be going back… all I can say is that not only me, but im sure MOST people that go here would love if people like you, jsut cooked at home and were miserable elsewhere!~ CHEERS~
Almost always good food and good service….only complaint is that I played at the Tuesday jam night quite a few times, the owner comes and told me how awesome I am and blah blah blah….thanks for the compliment, but buy a guy a beer!!!!
