Taunte Maria’s Mennonite Family Restaurant
From their authentic Mennonite menu to the decor reminiscent of a Mennonite style kitchen, Taunte Maria’s is a part of Saskatchewan’s strong and vibrant Mennonite tradition. For Freistik, or Mennonite breakfast, enjoy your eggs along with raisin Pankuchen, farmer sausage and pork cracklings. Hearty and delicious dinner items include Summa Borsch, homemade cottage cheese Vereniki with rhubarb sauce, and fruit-filled perogies.

Our decor is intentionally simple. The stove, mom’s sewing machine, the traditional mennonite pictures on the wall and the dishes that do not match reflect our attempt to create, as closely as possible, an old fashion mennonite kitchen.
At Tauntie Maria’s we follow the recipies that many generations of grandmothers have used. Some of the dishes originated in the Ukrane but with ‘yaps’ (handfuls) of this and a ‘kchneep’ (pinch) of that, they have become decidedly our own. We trust you will like them. |
